My new born son Axel at 2 and 3 weeks - Photo Blog

Taking photos of a new born is the best. All they do is sleep so you can pretty much mold them into any position... and props make it so much more fun! Here are some of the photos taken of my new born son at home in my bedroom.

I did great!

When I was surprised with my second pregnancy, I had a hard time dealing with the fact that my kids would only be two years apart. I know most people would prefer having kids close in age, but I was too caught up in my daughter’s world that I did not want her to feel the impact of sharing the spot light that was shinning so brightly on her.  I was devastated and afraid that she would not like her little brother because of it.

For the first week with my son at home, I cried. I felt so bad because I felt like we were pushing Ariel aside due to adjusting to the new baby and I felt like the most horrible mother. Having a c-section and not being able to play with her was not helping either. For the first week, she ignored the fact that we had another person living with us which led me to believe that I did a terrible job at introducing her to her little brother. When we tried to include her in feedings, she would push him aside after seconds.

As time went by, she was asking more and more to see her little brother, acknowledging that he too lived in our house and was part of our family. One morning, as I was getting ready to go out, I captured this moment between both of them. This is the moment that made me realise that I did great. Ariel finally understood her role as a big sister and did not seem to mind it one bit. Not only does she show interest in her little brother, but she also wants to take care of him.

I’ve never been so happy to see my baby girl grow up.

Surroundings in this pictures are not the prettiest, but I think I truly captured a moment between them both!
